Cookie Policy
Venice Water Inform sets no cookies at all. This page explains the single entry it keeps in your browser instead, what the cookie notice offers, and how to change or delete your choice.

1. The short answer
This website does not set any cookies, neither its own nor those of third parties. It uses no analytics, no advertising and no social media tools, so there is nothing on it that could follow you around the web.
What it does keep is one entry in your browser’s localStorage. That entry remembers your answer to the notice shown on your first visit and, only if you allow it, the language you last chose. We still call the notice a cookie notice because that is the term most people recognise, and because the same rules apply to any information a website stores on your device.
2. Cookies and localStorage
Cookies are small text files that a website places in your browser and that the browser sends back to the server with every request. localStorage is a different storage area in the browser. Its contents are not sent to the server: they stay on your device, and only the pages of the website that saved them can read them.
The rules on storing information on a user’s device, set out in Art. 5(3) of the EU ePrivacy Directive and the national laws that implement it, cover both techniques. That is why we describe our use of localStorage here in as much detail as another site would describe its cookies.
3. What we store
| Key or field | Contents | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
venizeanwaterinform.consent | necessary: true, preferences: true or false, version: 1, timestamp (date and time of your choice) | Remembers your choice, so that the notice does not appear on every page | Strictly necessary | No automatic expiry: kept until you change your choice or delete the site data in your browser |
lang (a field inside the same entry) | "en" or "it" | Remembers the language you last picked with the EN | IT switch, so that the bilingual error page shows it first | Preferences, only with your consent | Until you switch Preferences off, which removes it at once, or delete the site data |
Nothing else is stored: no identifier, no record of the pages you visit, no information about your device. The entry is never transmitted to our server or to anyone else. If we ever change the notice in a way that calls for a new decision, its version number changes and the notice appears again.
4. The choices in the notice
The notice and the settings panel offer two categories:
- Strictly necessary (always on)
- Keeps the record of your choice described above. Without it the notice would return on every page. It cannot be switched off in the panel, but you can delete it in your browser at any time (section 6).
- Preferences (off unless you allow it)
- Lets the site remember the language you last chose with the EN | IT switch. Nothing else falls under this category.
The buttons work as follows. “Accept all” switches Preferences on. “Only necessary” leaves Preferences off. “Settings” opens a panel in which you can set the Preferences switch yourself and confirm with “Save choices”. Closing the panel without saving changes nothing.
5. Changing your mind
You can reopen the settings at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page, or with the button below. Switching Preferences off withdraws your consent and removes the stored language straight away; switching it on again takes effect the next time you use the language switch.
The settings panel needs JavaScript. If JavaScript is turned off in your browser, the panel cannot open, but in that case the site stores nothing at all.
6. Deleting the stored entry
You can remove the entry yourself. Every common browser lets you delete stored site data, either for all websites or for a single one; the option is usually found in the privacy or security settings, under a name such as “cookies and site data” or “website data”. Deleting the data for venizeanwaterinform.online removes the consent record, and the notice will appear again on your next visit.
In a private or incognito window the browser discards the entry when the private session ends. If your browser blocks localStorage altogether, the site still works: your choice is then kept only for the page you are on, and the notice appears again on each new page.
7. No third-party cookies
Every file our pages need, including fonts, images, the stylesheet and the script, is served from this website’s own server, and no page embeds videos, maps, social media posts or other content from elsewhere. No third party can therefore set cookies or read storage through our pages. If you follow a link to another website, that website’s own cookie policy applies.
8. Changes to this policy
If we ever need to store anything else, we will update this page and the table above before we start, and ask for your consent wherever the law requires it. The date at the top shows when the policy was last changed.
